First Distribution has announced that it has been awarded exclusive distribution rights in South Africa for the new IBM PureFlex System, an integrated hardware platform.
IBM has invested extensively in the PureFlex system which it sees as being a market-leading solution, designed to allow users to simplify their experience through unified management and services.
“PureFlex specifically looks at integration of the infrastructure level” said Bevan Lock, PureFlex Product Manager at IBM. “It allows users to manage, control and virtualise a server environment, the storage required for that environment, and to manage the interconnetion and communications between everything.”
First Distribution will also be distributing IBM’s Flex Systems product offering, comprised of the various individual components as the building blocks for PureFlex.
“We’re honoured to be selected by IBM as the exclusive distributor for their PureFlex System” commented First Distribution General Manager Ludwig Dedekind. “We will be distributing to a select base of resellers. The decision to appoint us shows the confidence IBM have in First Distribution to speedily and effectively deliver their integrated systems into the market.”

First Distribution will continue to ensure that its staff have been trained to an appropriate level in order to deliver on the complexity of the PureFlex system, in a configuration, installation and support capacity.
“IBM is looking to take the complexity out of the environment” added Bevan Lock. “We needed to partner with a distributor who has the skills, resources and expertise needed to bring about the simplification and investment which we require.”
IBM’s PureSystems range has been launched in South Africa, and is available immediately.
