The company was founded in 1955 by a group of British cable manufacturers as African Telephone Cables. Its factory and head office based in Brits, north of Johannesburg, South Africa, was established in 1973. CBI Electric: Aberdare ATCTelecom Cables (Pty) Ltd (Previously known as ATC) installed the first optical fibre cable plant in Africa in 1982 and established the first optical fibre plant in the Southern Hemisphere in 1984.
CBI Electric: Aberdare ATC Telecom Cables (Pty) Ltd supplies copper and optical fibre telecommunication cable to various Public Network Operators locally, in Africa and internationally. Additionally, an impressive range of measurement, instrumentation, control, data and security cables as well as optical fibre cable assemblies and cable accessories are also manufactured to client specification and supplied globally.
