First Distribution is extremely selective regarding its trading partners, and as a result the company has established a first-class track record for stable and consistent product and service supply. Much of the success has come from an insistence on supporting only major brands in select product categories, which has engendered excellent relationships with vendors.
First Distribution has a national distribution infrastructure with offices in Cape Town, Gauteng, Kwazulu Natal, Port Elizabeth and Bloemfontein, with a solid record for the supply of computer and related products in South Africa. Delivery to other areas is carried out through appointed courier service partners.
First Distribution has technically competent hardware and software sales staff in Cape Town, Gauteng and Kwazulu Natal, who focus entirely on the IBM branded products. We also have a team of technical staff who work with and configure the product on a daily basis as well as being an IBM Warranty Centre in both Cape Town and Gauteng.
In addition we have a staging facility that can fulfill amongst other things, server configurations, software imaging and preloading on DeskTop’s and Notebooks.
Our motto is “Helping Our Customers to Help Their Customers”, and we continually strive towards this goal by building close and trusted relationships with our Business Partners. We assist our Business Partners in relationship building with vendors to achieve great pricing and product delivery for their customers. We train our customers on product and provide skills transfer to make them self sufficient on an on going basis.
First Distribution focuses its stock holding around current industry requirements and as such assists Business Partners with relevant stock holding that allows immediate delivery for well planned and forecasted rollouts.
First Distribution has a multi cultural staff profile aimed at empowering and transferring skills to previously disadvantaged sectors of the population to achieve their potential without prejudice or hindrance.
First Distribution has been recognized by IBM South Africa as the leader in South Africa in IBM distribution and won the distributor of the year for 8 consecutive years, namely 2001 through 2008.
